Journaling? But why?

I'm sure anyone has thought about starting a diary (aka a journal?), although they aren't the same thing, but both of them are a private space for oneself to jot down ideas and thoughts.
Now, that I've mentioned it,
WHAT'S ACTUALLY THE DIFFERENCE?
"A diary is a book to record events as they happen. A journal is a book used to explore ideas that take shape."
Some people (like me) have a "book" that counts as a journal, as well as a diary.
So, I write down events, accomplishments, ideas and feelings all at once.
Sometimes, it turns out just as a recalling of all events happened at a day.
Sometimes, it tends to be just writing down all my thoughts and feelings which makes me feel relieved afterwards and which also turns a page into a diary entry.
All boring explanatory babble gabble aside,
we sometimes feel lost, or we do feel lost all the time?
In both ways,
the solution would be being aware of what's happening around us/ getting to know ourselves more by
1) Journaling
and - or
2) Meditating
Based on personal experience
I've started journaling or that mixture of diary entries and recalling what I did in a day since the beginning of 2021.
I'm not saying that I've been doing it exactly everyday, but I've been doing that for the first time more than ever.
Almost everyday or to be honest I sometimes catch up every week if I haven't found time for it with a what I call a weekly recap.
After every month I do a monthly reflection (that I'm always excited about) where I reflect on the whole month looking closely at my accomplishments, failures and overall feelings and taking out what I learned to make use of it in the rest of the year (the months coming).
The whole thing is a really nice process and it's also very nice to look at the pages you wrote later on, maybe a few years later. This feels almost like time travelling.
The fun part
Most exciting and fun, is making the pages look pretty.
Which is my goal in my journaling journey.
I bet you've seen those pretty spreadsheets on Pinterest or YouTube.
I see the process of decorating as an easy way to release stress and to be mindful in an "active" way, but also to make the pages look more ✨aesthetic✨.
It's pretty fun to also look at some ideas and get inspo from other people online or in real life, if you have fellow artist friends.
Not only that, but the stickers and decorations you add to your page, make the page seem more personal and makes it feel more safe and familiar to you!
What I have for you
I have other posts for you to guide you through your journey of journaling and diary entries as well as making your pages look as pretty as you want them to be.
I hope this was helpful and I wish you a great day! <3 -J
